London, England, thousands of people visit this metropolis every year. Every tourist seemed to be carrying a camera, but I was the only one with a Sony A7s. Seems like the fixed lens compact zoom is still king for travel, boy are they missing out on some great shots :). The lens used was the Sony/Zeiss 50mm F/1.4, a joy to use.

I lived in London for a few years when I was studying, so I tend to avoid the major attractions. A lot has changed in the last years, as the financial district seems to be ever expanding, and now there are dozens of high-rise buildings overlooking historical sites like the London Tower. There was a beautiful art installation there to remember the start of the first world war, with thousands of poppies engulfing this UNESCO site.

Apart from those pictures, I tried to capture what I remember of London: how the diffused light falls in the streets at dusk in summer, the escalators in the Tube stations, the many vinyl record stores and the multi-cultural/bohemian vibe in the streets.

I took along the Sigma DP2 Quattro too, and if you’d like to know how it compares to the Sony A7s, I’ve added a picture with both of more-or-less the same scene:
