Mitakon 50mm F/0.95

Your Mitakon 50mm Ff0.95 (aka ZY Optics) should be arriving on your doorstep any day now. It will be interesting to see how other photographers get on with this beautiful manual focusing portrait lens.

Mitakon 50mm F/0.95

Remember that it will take some time to get used to the shallow depth of field if you don’t have any experience with a fast lens like this.

It is a bit soft at fF/0.95, but sharpens up nicely around f/2. Some sharpening can be applied with good results too.

I’ve written extensively on the Mitakon 50mm f/0.95, you can find all my posts here. If you’re looking for a lens profile for Lightroom, you can find it here.

      Hi Viezevur, difficult question…
The Mitakon 5Omm F/0.95 is definitely more special and unique, whilst the Sony SEL55F18z is technically a better lens, has AF and is a better all rounder.
Depends on what you want to use it for and what kind of photographer you are?

Is the Mitakon, being an FE mount, an auto lens (apart from being manual-focus)? Does it have any electronics communication with the camera? Can the Sony A7 control the aperture – or is the aperture manual also?

Hi Krishna, aperture is manual only too. No information is recorded in the EXIF data either.
