Deo-Tech (Techart) GA-3 updates firmware for Sony A7rM2 support

Deo-Tech, makers of a range of Sony A7rM2 adapters, have just released an update for their GA-3 Contax G to Sony E-mount adapter. When using this adapter, you’ll now be able to use the on-sensor phase detection AF points of the new Sony A7rM2 camera with Carl Zeiss Contax G mount lenses.

Most of the Deo-Tech (Techart) adapters incorporate a Bluetooth module that allows you to update remotely the firmware via your Smartphone or PC. The smartphone app is available for both Android and iOS devices for free from the respective download store. The firmware update procedure is quite simple once you’ve turned on the Bluetooth functionality of your smartphone.

• Mount the adapter and lens to your camera, adjust the aperture to f/90 and take 2 photos, then turn the camera power off and remove the lens but not the adapter.
• Place your phone right next to the adapter, select the firmware version from the list in the iOS app on your iPhone and click “Update” in the app.
• It will take a few minutes, but it worked perfectly for me. After the update is done, mount your lens and adjust the aperture to your preference.
