PortraitPro 15 quick review
Introduction
There is a new version, you can find my review of PortraitPro 19 here. Anthropics Technology Ltd just announced the launch of PortraitPro v15. This is a major release of the professional portrait retouching software, used by many portrait and wedding photographers.
PortraitPro 15’s technology, grounded in cutting-edge scientific image-processing research, allows for expanded creativity and retouching efficiency while preserving natural-looking results and ease of use.
New Features
PortraitPro 15 incorporates many new features requested by photographers. These include realistic makeup controls, wide angle (selfie) lens distortion correction, enhanced Child Mode, advanced skin coloring, and tone correction, improved feature detection, and support for ultra-high resolution displays.
Makeup Controls
From subtle, everyday looks to high-fashion editorial styles, PortraitPro 15 offers a full set of makeup controls, the most requested new feature. Based on research into how real cosmetics works, PortraitPro 15 delivers the most natural results in the industry via simple slider controls.
Wide Angle (Selfie) Lens Distortion Correction
The new Lens Correction slider fixes distortion caused by a wide-angle lens (known as selfie distortion on smartphones), creating more natural-looking, flattering portraits from pictures taken with wide-angle lenses or smartphones.
Enhanced Child Mode
PortraitPro 15 can also enhance child photos better. Children need very different treatment from adults in terms of photographic enhancement, and new modes have been added to the software to treat children more sensitively.
More advanced Skin Coloring Controls
Brand new skin coloring controls allow you to correct intelligently for any lighting situation and give skin a healthy, natural glow.
Improved feature detection
The feature detector has been made more accurate in version 15 to enhance the quality of results and speed throughout.
Support for ultra high-resolution displays
PortraitPro v15 now supports Apple Retina and Hi-Res PC displays.
Conclusion
PortraitPro 15 offers some worthwhile additions and enhancements to convince you to upgrade to the latest version. Face- and feature recognition works faster and more accurate than previous versions.
The addition of make-up and skin coloring controls can improve your portraits significantly if you don’t have the means or opportunity to be in full control of make-up and lighting during your shoot. I’m thinking especially of wedding photographers when often the bride has to be shot in less than ideal circumstances.
Enhancing childrens’ faces has always been a difficult task, but the added features in PortraitPo 15 do make the job easier.
Finally, the added support for Retina and Hi-Res PC displays was a much-needed upgrade in functionality.
If you’ve never used PortraitPro, I would advise you to try the demo on their website. I’m sure you’ll be impressed.
